Band Council Job Descriptions

Band President

  • Provide a good example for other students to follow.

  • Ensure that all members of the band council are executing their duties.

  • Assist other band council members in the performance of their duties as needed.

  • Communicate with the band directors and band staff regularly.

  • Maintain a posted calendar system with assistance from the directors.

  • Create concert scripts, programs, and flyers as needed.

  • Any other details as assigned by the directors.

  • Assists directors in organizational and administrative task such as:

    • Chairs and stand set up in band room​

    • Cleanliness of band room area (including hallway)

    • Etc.

Band Vice-President

  • Provide a good example for other students to follow.

  • Assist the President in the performance of their duties.

  • Any other details as assigned by directors.

  • Assists directors in organizational and administrative task such as:

    • Chairs and stand set up in band room​

    • Cleanliness of band room area (including hallway)

    • Etc.

Band Secretary

  • Provide a good example for other students to follow.

  • Keep an accurate record of all Leadership Team Meetings.

  • Meet weekly with Directors for assigned tasks.

  • Assist the other officers when requested.

  • Assist in fundraising operations.

  • Maintain the student locker system.

  • Any other details as assigned by directors.

  • Assists directors in organizational and administrative task such as:

    • Chairs and stand set up in band room​

    • Cleanliness of band room area (including hallway)

    • Etc.

Band Historian

  • Provide a good example for other students to follow.

  • Official student photographer and collector of band photos and videos.

  • Create and maintain a historical record of the school year as it pertains to band.

  • Collect and compile articles, pictures, announcements, programs, etc. for videos, photos gallery, and/or slide show.

  • Keep a photo record of band rehearsals, events and performances.

  • Provide directors with updated photos for the Band Website and Social Media.

  • Assist the other student officers when requested.

  • Assists directors in organizational and administrative task such as:

    • Chairs and stand set up in band room​

    • Cleanliness of band room area (including hallway)

    • Etc.

Band Librarian

  • Provide a good example for other students to follow.

  • Distribute music as needed by the directors.

  • Maintain the music library.

  • Train librarians to serve in each band class.

  • Ensure librarians are completing assigned projects.

  • Create and maintain a master folder system for music in each class.

  • Assists directors in organizational and administrative task such as:

    • Chairs and stand set up in band room​

    • Cleanliness of band room area (including hallway)

    • Etc.
