James Washburn

James Washburn III will be serving as the Drum Major Coach for the Campbell High School Marching Band, the “Legion of Boom.” With more than a decade of experience mentoring and developing drum majors and student leaders, he is passionate about helping young musicians grow in confidence, leadership, and performance excellence through the marching band experience.

An Atlanta native, James graduated from North Carolina A&T State University, where he earned a Bachelor of Science in Business Management and performed with the world-renowned Blue and Gold Marching Machine. His primary instrument is Alto Saxophone, and his experiences as a drum major at both the high school and collegiate levels continue to shape how he mentors and develops future leaders on and off the field. The discipline and life skills cultivated through the arts have helped develop him into the leader, strategist, consultant, organizer, and coach he is today. All perspectives he brings into his work mentoring young musicians.

He is a proud member of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. and Kappa Kappa Psi National Honorary Band Fraternity, Inc., and remains dedicated to using the arts as a platform to inspire excellence, leadership, and opportunity in young performers.
