The CHS Jazz Ensemble

The Campbell High School Jazz Ensemble is made up of talented student musicians from the band program who share a passion for jazz. Membership is by audition, and students must be enrolled in a band class to participate. The jazz ensemble performs a variety of jazz styles, including swing, funk, blues, and Latin, with a strong emphasis on improvisation and groove-based performance.

As the program continues to grow, future offerings will include a New Orleans-style brass band, expanding students’ exposure to the rich traditions and rhythms of American jazz.

Jazz Ensemble Information

Enrollment in the CHS band class is required to participate in any extra-curricular ensembles. Exceptions are made for IB Juniors and Seniors on a case by case basis.

Students are required to attend ALL rehearsals to remain in good standing. Please review the Band App calendar for the rehearsal and performance schedule.
All students participating in the Jazz Ensemble are to wear concert black:
1. Long sleeve, solid black button down shirt
2. Solid black slacks (no jeans)
3. Black socks and black dress shoes.
4. Royal Blue Tie: Purchased from Amazon to ensure the correct likeness across the ensemble. Royal Blue Tie
There may be a small fee of $25 for participation in the Jazz Ensemble. This is contingent on Jazz LGPE registration. It will be discussed at the first rehearsal of the season.
Parts will not be transposed or rescored. Not all instruments work with this ensemble.
The Jazz Ensemble is NOT the place to learn a new instrument. You will be demonstration your proficiency during the audition.
